Overview
J1-FGC10372 is a downstream branch of the highland-associated J1-Z1828 lineage and originated among agro-pastoral populations distributed across the Armenian Highlands, eastern Anatolia and northwestern Iran. These societies maintained upland pastoral cycles, early metallurgical production and fortified settlements typical of early highland West Asian cultural systems. Archaeological correlations point strongly toward cultural spheres aligned with the Kura-Araxes horizon. Bronze and Iron Age evidence indicates long-term geographic stability of FGC10372-bearing populations in rugged highland environments. The downstream structure consists of tightly clustered microbranches shaped by ecological isolation. By the medieval period, continuity with earlier highland populations is still evident, reinforcing the deep demographic persistence of this lineage in upland West Asia.
